    Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) head coach Mike Hesson said on Sunday said the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise is delighted to be associated with a formidable brand in AajTak in the 12th edition of the Twenty20 league.

    AajTak, India's No.1 news channel for over 19 years, came on board for Kings XI Punjab as the franchise's title sponsors on Sunday. KXIP will take the field with the AajTak logo on their shirts in IPL 2019.

    Hesson, one of the most successful coaches of the New Zealand cricket team, said Kings XI Punjab will be hoping to be a step ahead of the game in IPL 2019, which got underway in Chennai on Saturday. KXIP will take on Rajasthan Royals at the latter's home ground in Jaipur in their season opener on Monday, March 25.

    "From a Kings XI Punjab perspective, to have a relationship with Aaj Tak.. we are delighted to have that partnership. We know partnerships are important in terms of making sure we have got similar ideas and concepts around how we want to operate," Hesson said after AajTak was announced as the title sponsor of KXIP.

    "AajTak is a formidable brand. It's a brand that brings the news first to everybody and certainly from a KXIP perspective, we are about being creative and we are about being ahead of the game and we are about making sure we are very proactive about how we operate.

    "So the relationship is a lot of synergy between Aaj Tak and Kings XI Punjab. So delighted to have AajTak on our jersey. and I look forward to working closely this year."

    AajTak's Sweta Singh and Rahul Shaw (Chief Operation Officer) posed with the new jerseys alongside KXIP captain R Ashwin, Hesson and CEO Satish Menon.

    "We are delighted to announce our partnership this year with the news channel Aaj Tak, a TV channel known as much for its in-depth analysis delivered in double quick time as for it's credibility. A brand of that repute coming on board is a proud endorsement of Kings XI Punjab's intrinsic values," Satish Menon said.

    "We head into IPL 2019 with optimism and enthusiasm as we have the right brands with us on the journey. Their support is our strength as we aim to excel on the field with our performances played in the true spirit of the game."

    Meanwhile, speaking about AajTak's decision to collaborate with Kings XI Punjab, Rahul Shaw said the news channel always makes sure its editorial decisions aren't influenced by marketing moves.

    "This is a marketing proposition we have taken up. We are associated with several brands and we don't promote them. We see the game as a game, cricket as cricket. We don't interfere in any of this. We are an unbiased news channel," Shaw said.
